Reviews of A Company of Adventurers by

Reviewers

I heartily recommend this book to anyone

“This book had me hooked from the first page, and kept me hooked all the way through. The characters in this book are just so well written…great character moments and some fantastic action sequences…I loved the cover art, and the beautiful naked cover the hardcover has, where the art is printed directly on the cover. Definitely my preferred edition.”

Really recomendable

“A Company of Adventurers is a really good character-driven fantasy adventure, and a really recommendable book for anybody that is into roleplaying.

A…novel...whose purpose is to answer the question: What happens when a legendary adventurer retires? …it totally fulfills this ambition, and in a way I particularly loved.

I’m dying to read the second part of Tales of Kjeldale.

I think it’s really effective to use…multi-POV…as it feels more natural to discover their past.

Action parts are really well written, using some resources that give a distinctive touch to the novel.”

A world that it’s easy to immerse yourself in

“Good, detailed scenes. Especially the action scenes.”

I liked this a lot

“The story starts knocking out twists and turns that will keep you on your toes…early on you realise that no one is safe…I found it refreshing…If you’re looking for something fun with a plethora of interesting and snarky characters, then add this to your TBR pronto.”

D&D vibes!

“I really loved some of our main characters as well as supporting cast! Njörn was amazing by the end! The world building was nicely done. The writing style itself was very easy to read. Overall I truly loved this concept and the ending of the book even confirmed my suspicions of the D&D vibes. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with the remaining characters in future installments.
World Building 4.5/5
Pacing 4/5
Character Development 4/5”

Interesting characters, and an engaging story

“Really enjoyed this sword-and-sorcery, DnD-inspired story. It had the vibe of Aching God by Mike Shel as well, about assembling an adventuring crew in order to perform a dungeon crawl against a superior force.”

Fantasy at its best

a good read

“I enjoyed this book. Overall a good story.”

A very enjoyable read

A Company of Adventurers is a fantasy novel with a Lord of the Rings vibe. Overall this is a well written tale, with credible world building and an interesting plot that moves at a good pace. The characters are fascinating and their personalities are well developed making it easy for readers to establish a positive connection and invest in their stories. There is clearly more excitement and drama to come, this being the first book in the series. I look forward to the next instalment.

Authors reviews

wow what a great range and depth of characters

“The sword part of the genre really kicks in once the group comes together…the action is smoothly written and expertly choreographed. And while there are darker themes playing out there isn’t any graphic content, making it a novel that can be widely enjoyed…The world building is clear everywhere.”

Fantasy Adventures with style

“Drew me into the fast paced scenes, while slowly injecting the back story of the characters, keeping me interested the whole way. The book read quickly, giving me closure but wanting more, too.

I’m ready for the sequel.”

The narrative is strong and clear

“This book proudly displays its D&D heritage on surcoat and shield. I'm aware the author is not writing in their first language and does a good job. The narrative is strong and clear, and there are only a few strange word choices that a native speaker might not have made. This is not to say that I didn't enjoy the book. I did…”
